The Team
The expertise behind the GLOBUS_mapped initiative is rooted in both academic research and professional practice. We have organised and taken part in numerous field campaigns and archaeological excavations at Roman, Late Antique, and Medieval sites across Europe. Our work also includes the implementation of digital photogrammetry, UAS and topographical surveys, alongside the use of contemporary tools such as GIS for the analysis and digitisation of cultural heritage.
Working closely with international partners in Spain, Croatia, Italy, and France, we support research, education, and public engagement, thus ensuring that cultural heritage is more accessible and better safeguarded in the digital age.
IVOR KRANJEC
Independent professional specialized in digital documentation of cultural heritage with expertise in SfM photogrammetry, UAV and topographic surveys, 3D modeling and virtual reconstruction of heritage buildings, GIS analysis, and archaeological fieldwork. (see more)
Since 2014, he has taken part in over 50 archaeological projects across Spain, Croatia, and Italy, focused on Roman, Late Antique, and Medieval heritage. Alongside excavation, his work emphasizes digital documentation, including aerial and terrestrial surveys, photogrammetry, and 3D reconstruction of sites, landscapes, and architecture.
Since 2018, he has collaborated on projects in Catalonia with private heritage companies, academic teams, and as a self-employed specialist. From 2020 to 2024, he was Research Assistant at the University of Zagreb, gaining intensive experience in photogrammetry, GIS, 3D reconstruction, and topographic survey, while also contributing to academic activities such as publishing, teaching, and coordinating workshops.
He now works independently in Barcelona, providing precise survey data, site documentation (plans, drawings, orthophotos), and 3D visualizations for research, conservation, and public engagement.
JELENA BEHAIM
Jelena Behaim is a postdoctoral researcher at the Archaeological and Archaeometric Research Unit of the University of Barcelona (ERAAUB) focusing mainly on late antique and medieval architecture, sculpture and painting, and the implementation of digital technologies in the study of the historical landscape. In April 2021 she obtained the Joint Degree PhD from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Zagreb (doctoral thesis: Architectural Landscape at the Periphery of the Carolingian Empire, Croatian Historical Territory and Marca Hispanica). In 2018 she finished a one-year Specialization in Virtualization of Heritage at the Universidad de Alicante, Spain and from 2020 she has been teaching at the Master program in Digital Humanities at the University of Barcelona. She has been awarded several scholarships for stays at different international institutions in France, Italy Spain, UK, Croatia, Portugal, Greece and USA. She has been a member of the editorial board of the journals Hortus Artium Medievalium, and Pyrenae. She was collaborator editor for the Festschrift in honor of Xavier Barral i Altet, Repenser l’art médiéval en 2022.
